How we started

In 2019 Björn Dirk Krapohl, a Plastic Surgeon from the former Carl-Thiem Hospital in Cottbus (Germany), which now has become the Medical University of Lusatia (Medizinische Universität Lausitz) - Carl Thiem, was invited by Shankar Man Rai, the founder of the Nepal Cleft and Burn Center in Kathmandu (Nepal) to share his experience with the Nepali team. During this visit it turned to be clear: there must be a continuation of this relationship. - Gradually we grew together and started an official hospital partnership, which became an official label by the German Corporation of International Cooperation (Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit, GIZ) - we became members of the Hospital Partnerships Program.
